“The way to take a journey is not to be concerned with arrivals or departures, or in search of something wondrous like Marco Polo or the Three Magi. The journey is everything—to another country, another time, another person’s life. And everything is a journey.” — Montaigne
I love to write and I love to write about travel!
I was born and raised in South Africa. As an adult, I immigrated to the United States. It was the first flight of my life and I have not stopped flying since. I have visited almost every continent and have traveled extensively in the United States.
I lived in Boston, Mass and now live in the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis and St Paul. In 2000, I spent 4 months living in London England. I take trips to Europe every year, mainly to Italy.
I want to write about people that I meet and places that I see and to make the world smaller and friendlier, one article at a time.
Reading is another life-long passion. As a child, I traveled via books by Enid Blyton from my hot, hometown 8 miles from the Limpopo River, to England the land of tea and crumpets and children solving mysteries.
As a teenager in a girl’s boarding school I read Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters and more adventures of the Famous Five and their boarding school adventures. I too had midnight feasts, where I ate sardines on bread, and drank condensed milk straight from the can.
I still love to read and seek out the characters and the settings from the books.
Join me as we travel the globe and find the people and the places that make “everything a journey.”
